Snow Arena Polo World Cup
Kitzbühel
15 Jan - 18 Jan, 2009

Watch as people ride around on horses in the snow while whacking a ball with a giant mallet in order to score points. Sound intense? It is. Snow polo actually has the exact same rules as regular polo with one big difference. Can you guess it? That’s right, it’s played on snow! Kitzbühel is a beautiful city, and welcomes visitors from all over the world as six international teams will be competing. It’s free to view it from anywhere except the VIP area, which has tickets available for those who are looking for an up and close and personal view of the competition.

Mozart Week
Salzburg

There is no better place to celebrate the music of Mozart than in Salzburg, Austria, his hometown. The entire week is packed full of performances, seminars and other interesting Mozart based events. Visit the many Mozart museums in Salzburg, which will be hosting small performances all week. Don’t forget to see the famous Vienna Philharmonic who will be in town to perform selected works. If you are a fan of classical music, you will not want to miss this event.

Snow Golf World Championship
Obertauern
29 Jan - 31 Jan, 2009

Watch as people walk around in the snow while whacking a ball with a club in order to achieve the lowest possible score. Snow golf actually has the exact same rules as regular golf with one big difference. Can you guess it? That’s right, it’s played on snow! The 9-hole course is groomed with snowmobiles before the start of the match. Water hazards are frozen over and instead of sand traps you run into powder with a nasty hook or slice. Sure to be an entertaining event to participate in, as well as watch.
